Prome Encuentro Bienal Arte Contemporaneo di Caribe, Aruba 2011-2012 is a project with a broad scope which entails biennial exhibitions and educational programs. This will take place every two years and is a platform to integrate communities in the Caribbean through contemporary art. The various activities run over several months and focus on specific themes and issues.  Educational projects and workshops involve the community, while critics, curators and art historians from other parts of the world are invited to participate.

The Biennial encounter is operated by Fundacion Encuentro Prome Bienal di Aruba (S # 1176) a foundation that relies on funding from the Aruban government, and has submitted requests for funding at UNOCA, Prins Bernardfonds Nederlandse Antillen en Aruba, Cede Aruba, Mondriaan Foundation and Kultura. We are also looking for local, international and global sponsors.

The aim is to get the business community on Aruba involved in the project. We can use an extra hand. We have to cover expenses such as travel and lodging for artists, rental fees for exhibits, overhead, advertising, printing catalog and invitations, shipping and handling, customs duty, framing, installing, lighting and opening expenses, but most importantly an extensive educational program in our local schools and community. We welcome financial contributions, goods, services, advice or any support you can offer.

All contributions make a real difference to the program and enable us to:

  • First and foremost take our educational program to children, teens and adults on the island and offer art education through our public program and publications.
  • Avoid charges to participants and have everyone enjoy the expositions and other activities
  • provide workshops and lectures for the general public by some of the Caribbean’s most innovative artists
  • develop and promote Aruban art and artists, nationally and internationally
  • expose local and international audiences to the best of Caribbean contemporary art
  • promote international cultural exchange
  • Create a platform for an artistic -cultural dialogue which creates space and opportunity for  development in cultural tourism.

We gratefully appreciate support by those with the vision to support the organization and show commitment to its role in the Aruban cultural landscape. You can make a donation through the Aruba Bank # 245 3730 190.
